Volunteer Centre Dacorum

Who we are:

Volunteer Centre Dacorum has promoted, supported and developed volunteering in the Borough of Dacorum since 1971. It is an independent charity and is quality accredited by Volunteering England. The Centre also has an Investor in People (Bronze) Award.

Volunteer Centre Dacorum is supported by Dacorum Borough Council, which provides 50% of funding and fantastic premises. The Roundhouse is in the Town Centre of Hemel Hempstead, near Boots and WH Smith. See map below.

Visitors are always welcome to the Roundhouse, which has been developed as a Resource Centre for the local voluntary and community sector, thanks to a grant from CapacityBuilders in early 2009.

For Volunteers we provide:

A volunteering information service for people interested in volunteering - by personal visit, phone or email

Information on local voluntary opportunities - over 400 at any one time, so the choice is great!

1:1 confidential discussions with no pressure to make on the spot decisions

Individual help for people with extra support needs who would like to volunteer

Team challenges for groups of people who would like a volunteering project e.g. for groups of employees from companies (in partnership with Connect Dacorum)

Information on volunteer roles and responsibilities, and fact sheets e.g. volunteering whilst on state benefits

Occasional special events e.g. Volunteer Speed Matching

For Organisations we provide:

• FREE advertising of voluntary opportunities on our local database and on www.do-it.org.uk
• Information and training on volunteer management - Volunteer Managers' Forums
• e-bulletins
• Reference materials on volunteer management - key reference books available on loan
• Occasional volunteer recruitment events e.g. Volunteer Speed Matching
• An annual award for excellence in volunteer management - The Lees Award
