Royston Volunteer Centre

Who we are:

Volunteer Centre Royston & District has promoted, supported and developed volunteering in the SG8 postcode area since 1995.

It is quality accredited by Volunteering England and the Manager has received a High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Award in recognition of “great and valuable services to the community”

The Centre values its support from North Herts District Council and Herts County Council Adult services.

The Volunteer Centre is based at Royston & District Hospital on the London Road, a short walk from the Town Centre.  Free parking is available on the hospital site.

 

For Volunteers we provide:

• A volunteering information service for people interested in volunteering- by personal visit, phone or email
• Information on local voluntary opportunities – over 350 at any one time – so plenty of choice!
• 1:1 confidential discussions with no pressure to make on the spot decisions
• Some extra help for people with extra support needs who would like to volunteer
• Signposting to Team Challenges for groups of people who would like a volunteering project.
• Information on volunteer roles and responsibilities
• Fact sheets e.g. volunteering whilst on state benefits
• Occasional special events e.g. Volunteer speed Matching

• FREE advertising of voluntary opportunities on our local database and on www.do-it.org.uk
• Information and training on volunteer management – Volunteer Manager’s Forums
• e-bulletins
• Reference materials on Volunteer management
• Occasional volunteer recruitment events e.g. Volunteer Speed matching
