Young people get a lot out of volunteering!
Being a volunteer means you can do almost anything - anywhere! There are literally thousands of projects to get involved with. No matter how much time you've got, or where you are, there's an opportunity for you.
25 % of new volunteers visiting Volunteer Centres are between 16 and 25 years old and more than a quarter of the population of Hertfordshire is aged under 19!
Young people are volunteering in greater numbers than ever before and there are many good reasons for this.
Whilst helping others you'll help yourself:-
- get something extra to put on your CV or University / College application forms
- gain new skills and experiences - many voluntary jobs involve some training
- experience a taster to see whether a particular job / career would suit you:- in a hospital, shop, or office, with children, with elderly or disabled people, in environmental & conservation work
- meet new people and have fun!.
There is a vinvolved team working in partnership with the Volunteer Centres in Hertfordshire. They will help you get recognition for the hours you volunteer.

NEW Volunteering Drop In Service for Young People
Hertfordshire vinvolved Team are launching a FREE Volunteering Drop In Service to enable young people between 16-25 to find out more about the benefits of volunteering and what you can get involved in.
Come in and find out about:-
- Exciting new volunteering opportunities available
- How to sign up to our programme & what the benefits are to youth action
- Info about FREE training courses and conferences
- Gain advice, reassurance and help in resolving worries or concerns about volunteering and/or vinvolved
- v Accreditations - come and find out if you are entitled for any of our awards.
The first session will be held at the Volunteer Centre in Dacorum, The Roundhouse, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday 26th January 2010 from 2pm to 5pm. If you are aged between 16 – 25 years old and would you like to find out more about volunteering and what you can gain from the experience then this is for you. No need to make an appointment just come in and see the Youth Volunteering Adviser.
The dates for the Drop In’s in Dacorum are:-
- Tuesday 26th January 2010. 2pm - 5pm
- Wednesday 17th February 2010. 10am - 2pm
- Thursday 18th March 2010. 4pm - 7pm
In Broxbourne area the Drop Ins will be held on following dates in the East Herts and Broxbourne Volunteer Centre, 1-3 Albury Grove Road, Cheshunt, EN8 8NS (just near the Old Pond). The dates are as follows
- Wednesday 17th February 2010. 2pm - 5pm
- Tuesday 16th March 2010. 5pm - 7pm
- Thursday 8th April 2010. 12pm - 3pm
